ZnO is a wide band gap semiconductor with a band gap of 3.38 eV at room temperature. It crystallizes in wurtzite form. ZnO is considered a next generation semiconductor and it is the leading candidate of the age of oxide electronics. Its wide band gap implies that it is transparent in the visible region which immidietly opens up the possibility of transparent electronics devices. Soon one day will come when our computers, TV and other electronic gadgets will be fully transparent.
